Joseph B. Stefanelli


Joe Stefanelli was named Executive Vice President, Derivative Securities for The American Stock Exchange® in January 1994, assuming responsibility for all derivative securities activities at the nation’s second largest derivatives exchange. In this position, Stefanelli leads the development, implementation, and marketing of new derivative products, including new options products, hybrid debt instruments, currency warrants, and other derivatives used to manage investment risk or enhance returns.

Having joined the Exchange in 1984 as Vice President of Options Marketing, by 1991 Stefanelli had advanced to Senior Vice President for Derivative Securities Communications, Institutional and International Marketing. With the exception of 1993, when he served as Executive Vice President of Equities Marketing, responsible for a 122 percent increase in new equities listings over the previous year, Stefanelli has spent his entire Amex® career in the Derivative Securities division.

Prior to joining the Amex, Stefanelli served as Vice President and Manager of Options Branch Sales Support at Dean Witter Reynolds. Earlier, he was with Pershing & Co., where he was responsible for options marketing, trading and operations, and also supervised the company’s day-to-day trading operations on the major options exchanges.

A New York native, Stefanelli and his wife live in Manalapan, New Jersey.
