Scott Gordon


Scott Gordon was elected Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in January 1998. Originally elected to the Board in 1982, he has served on the Executive Committee since 1984 and was Vice Chairman of the Board from 1995 through 1997.

Mr. Gordon is President and Chief Operating Officer of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Futures (USA), Inc., a CME clearing member firm wholly owned by the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Ltd., one of the world’s largest financial institutions.

Mr. Gordon discovered the fascination of the futures markets during a summer job after his first year of college, beginning his career as a clerk on the floor of the CME in 1971. He has been an independent trader, a floor broker and a clearing firm executive. He has traded every product type the CME offers including currencies, interest rates, stock indexes and physical commodities, giving him insights into the market dynamics of all CME product groups.

From 1974 until 1983, Mr. Gordon served in various trading and management positions with Rosenthal and Company, and from 1983 until 1988, in similar positions at Dellsher Investment Company. He has been with Tokyo-Mitsubishi and its predecessor firms since 1989. Mr. Gordon was a member of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) from 1975 until 1977 and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1995. He has been a member of the CME’s International Monetary Market (IMM) division since 1977.

Mr. Gordon serves on the boards of the National Futures Association and the Futures Industry Institute, as well as the Advisory Committee to the IIT Center for the Study of Law and Financial Markets.

Mr. Gordon received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, cum laude, from Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1974. A resident of Chicago, he is married and has two children.
