Dr. Albert Bressand is Managing Director of PROMETHEE, a Paris-based think-tank working on the global networked economy, that he co-founded in 1985 and that The Economist has ranked among the world’s twenty “good think-tanks”. He is a member of the Board of Economists of TIME magazine and an adviser to the International Economy Magazine in Washington D.C.. He is also a fellow of the World Economic Forum in Davos where he has been chairing sessions on electronic finance, “networked markets”, the euro and globalization. Dr Bressand has edited The Two-Currency World, between integration and disintegration as well as The Euro at the Vanguard of Global Integration (Paris, Prométhée and Ernst & Young, 1999 & 1998), Europe 2012, globalisation et cohésion sociale: les scénarios luxembourgeois (Paris, Editions Economica, 1997 with a team of Luxembourgian economists). He has published La Planète Relationnelle (Flammarion, 1995, with Catherine Distler), Le Prochain Monde (Le Seuil, 1985, with Catherine Distler), A Vision for the World Economy in 2020 (the Brookings Institution, Washington D.C., 1995, with Robert Lawrence and Takatoshi Ito), Strategic Trends in Services (Harper & Row, New York, 1989) and articles in notably Foreign Affairs, Daedalus, the International Herald Tribune, Le Monde, Les Echos, Futuribles, etc.. Dr. Bressand holds engineering degrees from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris and a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University.
