John T. Wall

Mr. Wall has had an active role in Nasdaq since its inception in 1971 and has served as Executive Vice President since 1982 when he began to concentrate on activities and initiatives to advance automation and promote Nasdaq worldwide. Among the initiatives that he spearheaded:

• Initiation of international linkages between The Nasdaq Stock Market and overseas markets.
• The automation of all phases of Nasdaq trading through systems such as Automated Confirmation Transaction (ACT) service and SelectNet, the NASD screen-based trade negotiating service.
• The launch of the first formal marketing program and major advertising campaign, aimed at improving awareness and understanding of Nasdaq.
• Implementation and promotion of PORTAL, the NASD real-time electronic market that brings together qualified buyers and sellers in the international private-placement market, and FIPS (the fixed-income pricing system).
• Development of the OTC Bulletin Board, a pioneering screen-based system that displays non-Nasdaq quotes.

Mr. Wall joined the NASD in 1965 as an examiner in the regulatory division. From 1976 to 1982, he was Senior Vice President of the newly created Compliance Division and he was also spent two years in the Surveillance Division. Mr. Wall has served on a number of industry committees and boards and currently sits on the EASDAQ and National Securities Clearing Corporation Boards. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame
