Dr. Christian Imo was born in Mannheim, Federal Republic of Germany, in 1955. After having concluded his studies in law and national economy at the Universities Tübingen and Heidelberg, he published Börsentermin- und Börsenoptionsgeschäfte which has become the standard work on futures and options in the German-speaking area. From 1982 to 1987, he was a member of the scientific staff at the Chair for Commercial Law of Heidelberg University where he worked in the fields of banking and exchange. In 1988, Dr. Imo established his own legal practice in Heidelberg and specialised in the fields of banking, exchange and investor protection. After having earned the title of doctor juris (doctor of law) at Heidelberg University, he joined the newly established German Futures Exchange (DTB) in Frankfurt in 1989. As Head of Trading, he contributed considerably to building up the DTB. In 1990, he came to Vienna where he was entrusted with the task of building up a derivative market in Austria. He has been Managing Director of the Austrian Futures and Options Exchange (ÖTOB) since the foundation of the company. Since December 1997 Dr. Imo is Member of the Executive Board of Wiener Börse AG (WBAG); WBAG was established as a result of the merger between ÖTOB and VSX (Vienna Stock Exchange) in December 1997.
