Hal Hansen served as President of Cargill Investor Services (C.I.S.) from November, 1978 to June, 1998. He has been responsible for the overall management and strategy of the worldwide futures commission brokerage firm, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cargill. Hansen joined Cargill in 1958 and held various merchandising and managerial posts in the firms’ Commodity Marketing Division until 1965, when he was assigned to Cargill, S.A. Buenos Aires, Argentina, as assistant to the president. He became a director of Cargill, S.A. and manager of its Food Products Department in 1966. In 1969, he returned to Minneapolis as assistant to the manager of the Poultry Products Division and became general manager of the division’s Delaware broiler operations in 1970. He was named vice president and regional manager of C.I.S.’ Atlanta office in 1974. In July, 1978, he was named vice president and operations manager at C.I.S. headquarters in Chicago. He served as Chairman of the National Futures Association and chairman of its Executive Committee from 1994 to 1998, and is past Chairman of the Futures Industry Association where he served for several years as a director and Executive Committee member. He is also a past director of the Chicago Board of Trade. In addition, he has been a member of the Chicago Board of Trade, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Minneapolis Grain Exchange and Winnipeg Commodity Exchange for the past 20 years. Hansen received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, in 1958. He was born November 23, 1936, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He and his wife, Lou Ann, live in Lake Forest, Illinois, and have three grown children.
