Robert H. Forney, a board member of the Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) since 1992, was named president and chief executive officer of the Exchange on September 8, 1995. Since Mr. Forney’s arrival, the Exchange has consistently broken annual volume records. Mr. Forney, 55, joined the CHX after a 25-year career in the financial services, software and information technology industries. Formerly, Mr. Forney was senior vice president of Bricker and Associates, Inc. where he was responsible for the implementation of large business re-engineering programs. From 1992-1994 Mr. Forney was president and chairman of Fortex Technologies, Inc., a consulting firm for major corporations dependent on achieving and maintaining leadership in their use of information technology. Throughout his career, Mr. Forney has been at the helm of corporations that develop, maintain and enhance computer software systems and software products. His positions have included senior vice president of Pansophic Systems, Inc., managing partner of Peat Marwick Advanced Technology and CEO of Fortex Data Corporation. He is the only technologist to serve as president and CEO of a U.S. exchange. In addition to being on the CHX Board of Directors, Mr. Forney has served on committees for ADAPSO, Indiana University Graduate School of Business and the Quality Assurance Institute. He has been active with the Indiana Society of Chicago, Michigan City Center for the Arts and the Barker Hall Community Center. Mr. Forney, a CPA, received his MBA and BS in accounting and finance from Indiana University. He has participated in advanced professional development programs at Stanford University and Harvard University. He served in the Illinois National Guard and U.S. Army for four years. A strong supporter of the Chicago community, Mr. Forney serves on the boards of several local organizations including the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Night Ministry, Mid-America Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Chicago Civic Federation and the Chancellor’s Advisory Board University of Illinois at Chicago. Mr. Forney is especially honored to serve as the chairman for the 1998 LaSalle Street Dinner Dance, an event that raises money for the Boy Scouts of America.
