Michel Y. Dérobert was born in Geneva in 1950. He is a graduate from the St Gell University (Business Administration). He held various positions in banking and finance in Geneva and London before being appointed to the management of the Swiss Federation of Commerce and Industry in Zurich in 1981. Since 1990, he is Managing Director of the "Groupement des Banquiers Privés Genevois". His main responsibilities include advising Geneva’s private bankers on policy, legislative and regulatory issues as well as coordinating their activities in various fields of common interest. He is also Secretary General of the Association of Swiss Private Bankers. From 1990 to 1997, he has acted as adviser to the Admission Board of the Swiss Stock Exchange in areas related to financial transparency of listed companies. During these years, he has participated to IOSCO’s activities in this area as a representative for Switzerland.
