Geert Vanderbeke

Geert Vanderbeke is executive director and head of sales, Europe, for the Brokerage, Clearing & Custody business unit. In his day-to-day contacts with market professionals state of the art connectivity to the Fortis brokerage and custody platform is discussed. This responsibility makes him also an interested party for developing added value brokerage and custody services that bring end-to-end solution to customers. Through taking a view for problem solving covering the entire value chain superior back office processing can be achieved.

Mr Vanderbeke holds a degree in Commercial and Financial Sciences, and has been working for Fortis and its predecessors in Belgium since 1977. In 1986 he started his career in financial markets as an equity broker. Throughout the years and in a market rapidly changing due to new regulation and the introduction of technology, he acquired a comprehensive overview of the securities industry, both on the transaction and custody side. As a business expert he has been following the MiFID genesis for many years already.

Mr Vanderbeke is a Vice-President of the Financial Markets Committee in Febelfin, the Belgian Finance Federation of six trade associations from the Belgian financial industry. He is also member of the NYSE Euronext International Cash Advisory Committee.
