Otto E. Naegeli

Otto E. Naegeli was born in 1949 and raised in Zurich – Switzerland where he finished education with a degree in commerce. He then joined Credit Suisse where he held junior positions in Zurich and in Montreal, Quebec. After his return from Canada he was appointed manager of a Credit Suisse branch in suburban Zurich. In 1976 Mr. Naegeli joined the Bank of Tokyo (Switzerland) Ltd., Zurich, where he was in charge of primary and secondary market securities trading.

In 1987 Mr. Naegeli was appointed Chief Executive Officer of SOFFEX – Swiss Options and Financial Futures Exchange, the first fully electronic Exchange and Clearinghouse for Futures and Options. Concurrently with his position as CEO of SOFFEX in 1995 Mr. Naegeli was also named member of the Management Board of the newly created SWX – Swiss Exchange in Zurich.

Mr. Naegeli was substantially involved in the project to merge SOFFEX and DTB Deutsche Terminbörse into EUREX. With the opening of EUREX in 1998 Mr. Naegeli held the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer until 2001 with the main responsibility for the Clearinghouse of EUREX. From 2000 to 2001 Mr. Nägeli concurrently acted as Chairman of the Board of the European Energy Exchange (EEX).

In 2001 Mr. Naegeli returned to banking. He was named Chief Executive Officer of Rüd, Blass + Cie AG, Private Bankers, Zurich a position he held until 2003.

In April 2003 Mr. Naegeli founded OEN-Consulting, Naegeli & Partner, an independent consulting firm in the fields of Exchange and Clearinghouse organization. Besides various mandates for advising stock exchanges and Clearinghouses he was also mandated to make feasibility studies about establishing derivatives markets in transition countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Serbia.

In a special mandate Mr. Naegeli represents the Options Industry Council (OIC) of the United States in Europe. OIC is a not-for-profit organization of the six US Options Exchanges (AMEX, BOX, CBOE, ISE, NYSE-Euronext, and PHLX) and the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) of Chicago.
