Marco Mensink holds a Masters of Science Degree in Forestry and Business Management from the Agricultural University of Wageningen in the Netherlands. Before joining CEPI in March 2006, he worked for 6 years as Energy & Environment Director at the Royal Netherlands' Paper and Board Association, also representing the Dutch industry in Brussels. Mr Mensink started his career at Ernst & Young Management Consulting, working there for 6 years in Environmental Management and assessing the environmental issues in mergers and acquisitions. In CEPI, he is responsible for the climate change, energy and environment issues vis a vis the EU institutions, presenting the industries interests. He represents the industry in the ECCP panel on the revision of the EU ETS and is member of the Alliance of Energy Intensive Industries. On behalf of CEPI, he is the chairman of the Climate Change Working Group of the International Council of Forest and Paper Associations (ICFPA), the global umbrella organisation of the forest based industry, working with the International Energy Agency, OECD, etc. ICFPA is an active participant in global fora and an observer to UNFCCC meetings. Forestry and climate change issues are key topics today, with EU focus points in the climate package, e.g. the EU ETS and renewable Energy legislation. Mr Mensink is a Dutch national, 40 years (1968), married and has three children. He is living in Brussels.
