Chris Goromonzi

Chris Goromonzi is a founding Executive Director of MCX Africa Limited. He is an Economics graduate with over 21 years experience in various fields in the financial sector, having worked for a commercial bank as well as a Development Bank before pioneering the venture capital industry in Zimbabwe, joining a small team of officers to establish the Venture Capital Company of Zimbabwe as an Investment Executive. Mr Goromonzi left VCCZ having attained the position of Deputy Managing Director. Upon leaving the VCCZ, Mr Goromonzi was involved in the establishment of Trust Merchant Bank (Zimbabwe) as a co-founder with specific responsibilities for Business Development and Corporate Banking, later assuming the position of Deputy Managing Director responsible for Merchant Banking. The Bank evolved into Trust Holdings Limited, and Mr Goromonzi assumed several key responsibilities within the Group. Mr Goromonzi left Trust Holdings Limited and moved to South Africa where he was involved in founding Pivot Capital Partners, as the director responsible for Structured Trade Finance. He left Pivot Capital Partners to spearheard the establishment of the Multi Commodity Exchange of Africa, as a founding Executive Director whilst also warehousing the interests of the Pan African investors in the continental exchange. Mr Goromonzi is a regular speaker at Afreximbank's conferences and has also been a resource person and speaker at several Agricultural and Commodity Finance conferences sponsored by UNCTAD.
