Derek West is responsible for the Centre of Excellence for Derivatives, dedicated to continually improving derivatives oversight and understanding in Canada through co-operative projects with Canada's various regulatory agencies, the financial industry and universities. He is involved in the drafting of Quebec's new regulatory framework for derivatives markets, its implementation and ongoing development. Mr West joined the AMF from the National Futures Association where he was Director of Strategic Planning and Development. A graduate of the University of Ottawa, he divides his time between Chicago and Montreal.
