Mr. Ahmed bin Sulayem is the Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, a strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai to create a dynamic commodities market place in the region. As Executive Chairman, Mr. Sulayem drives DMCC towards the realisation of its strategic vision and is responsible for leading the organisation’s strategies. Mr. Sulayem joined the DMCC as Chief Operating Officer when it was first established in 2002, to take on the responsibility of the organisation’s operations. He has spearheaded the success of the Centre in Dubai’s commodity market, in addition to guiding the set up of its property sector. Mr. Sulayem is also closely involved with the various initiatives of DMCC including the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX), the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), the Dubai Tea Trading Centre and the Dubai Pearl Exchange. Mr. Sulayem brings in valuable experience to the Board and management team as a director at DGCX, while at the Dubai Diamond Exchange he holds the position of the Deputy Chairman. Prior to joining DMCC, Mr. Sulayem was a Director in ASTECO, where he was responsible for liaising with various government departments of the Emirate’s administrative bodies. He was also a key member of the core management team with wide responsibilities for making strategic decisions affecting the Company.
