Lawrence Peirson has been involved in the financial industry for more than fifteen years. He began his career as a stockbroker in 1989, based in Madrid, Spain. In 1993, he made a move into the futures and options world. He made the change at a point when Spain was launching MEFF, and he earned his stripes in the middle and back office of Ahorro Corporacion Financiera, which was one of the major brokerage firms servicing the Spanish savings banks. He then served a stint at Central Hispano Bolsa as the Head of Derivatives Operations before being recruited to BZW Futures, which is now Barclay’s Capital in London. Mr. Peirson joined Barclay’s Capital in 1996. As the Manager of Futures Clearing Sales, he was responsible for the developing and fostering the growth of the European business. In 1999, he was promoted to Associate Director, and was made a Director of the firm in 2002. He currently is the European Head of Futures and Options and has been instrumental in building a team that is responsible for client sales, relationship management, client-facing technology, execution services and the firm’s business strategy. Mr. Peirson was born in Caracas, Venezuela, raised in Cape Cod, Massachussetts, and is a dual US and Venezuelan citizen. He attended Colby College where he was graduated with a BA in History in 1987. He is multilingual and speaks fluent English, Spanish, and Italian. He participates and works closely with many of the leading industry organisations, including EUREX, LIFFE, CBOT, CME, FIA, FOA, and FOW.
