Werner Vogt

Werner Vogt joined SWX Group as a media spokesman in January 2004. He provides corporate information on SWX Swiss Exchange and virt-x and their respective regulatory environments in the first instance to German, English and French speaking journalists. Moreover he acts as a public affairs coordinator in SWX’s relation with the federal parliament in Berne. Werner received his baptism of fire as a spokesman in summer 2004 when Deutsche Börse approached SWX in an effort to acquire the exchange.

Before entering the world of bourses he gathered extensive experience in journalism. After a warm-up period as a local reporter, he worked during ten years for Neue Zürcher Zeitung’s foreign service, five of which as the paper’s Correspondent for Southern Africa. Widely travelling through the whole of South Africa and its neighbouring countries he wrote about politics, macroeconomic issues, key industry sectors, tourism and of course securities exchanges. During his years in Johannesburg he was chairman of the Foreign Correspondents Association. Further work experiences include Public Relations consulting and event organisation.

Prior to his working life and partly in parallel Werner Vogt studied history and English literature in Zurich and Paris. He holds a PhD in contemporary history from Zurich University and an MBA in media and communication from the University of St. Gallen.
