Joseph J. O'Neill

Joe O’Neill is Senior Vice President of Market Development at the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT), the world’s leading exchange for soft commodities. For well over a century, the New York Board of Trade has provided reliability, integrity and security in a global marketplace for cocoa, coffee, cotton, ethanol, orange juice and sugar, as well as currency and index futures and options.

Previously, Mr. O’Neill was Vice President and Secretary of the New York Cotton Exchange from 1970 until 1983. He later became the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 1983 to 1984, and then President and CEO from 1984 to 1998.

Mr. O’Neill has held numerous positions with industry boards and committees, including as a Special Advisor to both the Cotton Council International’s Executive Committee & Board of Directors and the National Cotton Council, a Member of the Swiss Futures and Options Association Board of Directors, the National Futures Association Board of Directors, and the National Futures Association Executive Committee, as well as a Representative of the US on the International Cotton Advisory Committee.

Mr. O’Neill received a BA degree from Manhattan College in 1967, and an MBA from Adelphi University in 1980. In both 1994 and 1995, he was named to Irish America magazine’s top 100 American businessmen, and from 1998 until 2003, he was named to the top 50 Irish American Wall Streeters. Additionally, in 2003, Mr. O’Neill was Co-Honoree of the Gary Cater Field of Dreams Alzheimer’s Charity.
