Dr. Hans-Bernd Menzel

Since November 1, 2002, Dr. Hans-Bernd Menzel holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of the European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) in Leipzig. Prior to his appointment, the 49-old linguist worked as a managing partner of a renowned management consultancy in Frankfurt/Main. Having joined the firm in 1987 as a consultant, he was a member of the board of management since the early 1990s. His responsibilities included world-wide projects with international corporations aiming at the restructuring of financial and commodity price management as well as controlling systems.

After his studies at the University of Cologne and his Ph.D. in 1983, Hans-Bernd Menzel was a lecturer of business economics at the Polytechnic School of Rhineland-Palatinate. At the same time he taught as guest lecturer at the École Supérieure de Commerce at Montpellier and in parallel he worked at the Institute for IT-Applications at Worms.
