Mr. Luc Bertrand is President and Chief Executive Officer of Bourse de Montréal Inc. since March 13, 2000. He has served on its Board of Directors (the ‘Board of Governors’ before the demutualization of the Bourse in 2000) since 1992. He was appointed to the Bourse’s Executive Committee in 1994. He then served as the Bourse’s Vice-Chairman in 1996 and 1997 and as Chairman from 1998 to the date of his appointment as President and CEO. Mr. Bertrand is also a member of the Board of the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bourse de Montréal Inc., and a member of the Special Committee – Regulatory Division of the Bourse. Mr. Bertrand is Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Boston Options Exchange Group LLC (BOX), a new U.S. electronic exchange for securities options operated by the Montréal Exchange, a founding partner and a shareholder of Box. Mr. Bertrand serves on the Boards of the International Financial Centre Montréal, of Regulatory Services Inc. and the Securities Industry Advisory Council. From 1996 to 2002, he was Governor of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund and served as Vice-Chairman in 1998 and 1999. He is also a former Governor of the Canadian Securities Institute. A participant in the securities industry for over 24 years, Mr. Bertrand was, before his appointment at the Bourse, Vice-President and Managing Director with the Institutional Sales Group at National Bank Financial. From 1993 to 1998, Mr. Bertrand was Partner, Executive Vice-President and Resident Director (Quebec) at Deacon Capital Corporation, formerly Barclays, de Zoete, Wedd. In 1985, he co-founded the brokerage firm Pollitt, Bertrand. Mr. Bertrand holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Ottawa.
