The 24th International SFOA Meeting at Bürgenstock will be held from the 4th to the 7th of September 2003. This conference remains a unique gathering of representatives and members of exchanges, clearing organisations, market participants and regulatory agencies. The Bürgenstock conference is always a very special opportunity to meet a lot of important and interesting people from within our industry.

Big challenges are faced by all of us. Derivatives, the classic tools of Risk Management, have come under attack; clients are faced by an ever increasing number of exchanges and products; the traditional trading is vanishing fast, and this is not just a matter of going from open-outcry to electronic but also off-exchange – yet the advantages of a clearing house a sought… The exchanges are converting from public utilities to private for-profit organisations – is this really in the public interest? Exchanges are looking for new ventures – is sports betting one of them? Let’s discuss these and other interesting items on Bürgenstock, in an environment of peace, silence and natural beauty.

The Wide World of Derivatives is growing very fast – a lot of new markets are being established and many of those are growing rapidly. The Board of your association strongly believes in the importance of facilitating the networking and cooperation between the emerging and the established markets.
