Mr. Langton has an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws, University of Reading and more than thirty years' experience in the international securities market, involving a wide variety of aspects. Immediately prior to taking over as Chief Executive and Secretary General of ISMA he was Managing Director of a major inter-dealer broker in London for three years. Previously, for six years, he held the position of Senior Executive Director at Orion Royal Bank Limited.

Mr. Langton holds a number of other senior positions. Since 1994 he has been Vice Chairman of the Madrid-based European Capital Markets Institute (ECMI); since 1996 he has been a member of the governing council of the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation (CSFI), based in London; and, in 2000, he was appointed a director of the European Investment Services Association (EURISA) in Brussels.
