Bernard W. Dan

Bernard W. Dan was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Board of Trade on November 5, 2002.

Mr. Dan joined the CBOT in July 2001 and, prior to his appointments as President and CEO, he served as Executive Vice President and was responsible for the CBOT’s open auction and screen-based business units, as well as the exchange’s product development and marketing initiatives. Prior to joining the CBOT, Mr. Dan was President and Chief Executive Officer of Cargill Investor Services, Inc. (CIS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cargill, Inc.

Mr. Dan was named President and CEO of CIS in June 1998. He joined CIS in 1985 and held various operational positions while in Chicago. In 1986, he was assigned to Cargill Investor Services Ltd., London, as Administrative Manager responsible for all operational activities. In 1989, he was assigned to the CIS New York Regional Office as Administrative Manager, and subsequently was named CIS Assistant Vice President in October 1991 and Vice President in June 1993. Mr. Dan was named Director of Cargill Investor Services (Singapore) Pty. Ltd. upon the company’s formation in November 1994 and continued in that position until April 1997. He returned to Chicago in June 1997 and served as Vice President, Global Head of Execution, a position to which he was appointed in April 1997.

Prior to joining Cargill, Mr. Dan worked at the National Futures Association from 1983 to 1985. He was elected to a three-year term as a Governor of the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation in February 1999. He also served as a member of the BOTCC Board of Governors and First Vice Chairman of the BOTCC. Mr. Dan serves actively within the futures industry both on exchange committees and industry user groups. Mr. Dan currently is a board member for the National Futures Association and One Chicago. He is also a member of The Executives Club of Chicago and The Commercial Club of Chicago.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Dan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. John’s University. Collegeville, Minnesota.
