George A. Möller

George Möller (1947) was born in Groningen and studied business economics at the State University of Groningen. He obtained his Masters's degree in 1974 and started his career at the Amro Bank where he progressed from the credit department to the department of Syndicated Loans and finally to foreign treasury.

In 1983 George Möller joined The Deli Company as a corporate treasurer where he remained until 1987 when he moved to Pierson, Heldring & Pierson, now MeesPierson. He was appointed Managing Director of Pierson ICS Limited, the Clearing Agent for Market Makers at the London options and futures market (LTOM and LIFFE).

In 1989 George Möller was appointed London General Manager of Pierson Holdings Limited, becoming, after the merger with Bank Mees & Hope, London General Manager of Mees Pierson. As General Manager he was among other things, responsible for merging the London businesses of Pierson, Heldring & Pierson and Mees & Hope and ran an organisation with a versatile package of activities particularly in the field of the mediation and settlement of shares, futures and options and banking.

In 1992 George Möller was appointed a Board Member of LIFFE and chairman of the Equity Market Committee of the Stock Exhange, the Strategy Committee for Policy, monitoring options to purchase shares.

George Möller was also a member of the UK Steering Committee, the joint venture between the London Stock Exchange and the Financial Times responsible for the control of the UK stock indices.

In 1996 George Möller joined the EOE-Options Exchange as General Manager, becoming Chief Executive (President) of Amsterdam Exchanges (AEX) when the stock exchange merged with the options exchange on 1 January 1997.

As from 22 September 2000 George Möller is Chief Operating Officer of Euronext N.V., which is the result of the merger between ParisBourse SA, Brussels Exchanges and Amsterdam Exchanges. In 2002 the Portugese exchange BVLP and the UK derivatives exchange Liffe joined Euronext.

In 2000 George Möller was elected president of the Federation of European Stock Exchanges (FESE).
