[Introduction]Join us on the Bürgenstock in September ! |
|
Dear Members and Friends of our Association, The 22nd edition of the International SFOA Meeting at Bürgenstock will be held from the 6th to the 9th of September 2001. It will feature Brazil as its guest country. Ten years ago Brazil was honoured at Bürgenstock, and all those who attended that conference have fond memories of it! Looking at all the preparations going into this years’ night we are sure we will see another fantastic Friday night on Bürgenstock. We already want to thank the BM&F in São Paulo for agreeing on sponsoring and organising this evening and are looking forward to a very special event! Obviously the Bürgenstock conference is not just a fantastic Friday night but remains a unique gathering of representatives and members of exchanges, clearing organisations, market participants and regulatory agencies. The initiative taken two years ago with UNCTAD, to invite emerging markets to our conference, has been appreciated by its participants. It is our believe that it is of utmost importance to include young and upcoming markets and to give them the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and experiences not only with their fellow young exchanges but also with established ones and regulators from all over the world. It is a special pleasure to welcome the members of AFM (Association of Futures Markets) who have decided not only to join the meeting, but also to hold their annual meeting at Bürgenstock just before our conference begins. We hope that this is the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial relationship, identical with the one we are enjoying with many other industry related associations and highly talented and prominent personalities linked to them. Big challenges have to be faced by all of us – and what better place to discuss them, share views, exchange ideas and look for better ways than in an environment of peace, silence and natural beauty. Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort has offered this perfect venue for over 125 years to all its guests and visitors. With one exception, all our conventions have been held there and we are convinced that the 2001 edition will become a worthy addition to that long list. We are looking forward to welcoming you in September! Sincerely,
Paul Meier Chairman
