John Parry


John Parry has a long career in financial markets, particularly derivatives. Having started his City life covering non-ferrous metal markets for industry publication Metal Bulletin he then launched the generic derivatives industry publication, Futures & Options World, in 1981. After three year he moved to run the derivatives newsletter division of International Financing Review and at the same time contributed articles and columns on derivatives to several publications.

In 1986 he became a markets consultant, an activity which included writing and presenting the options training programmes for both the International Petroleum Exchange and the London Commodity Exchange. In 1991 he wrote the feasibility study for the introduction of traded equity options on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

In parallel to these activities he was also on the syllabus and examination committee for the derivatives examination of the Securities Industry Diploma in the UK.

In 1991 he and Simon Rostron formed Rostron Parry, a specialist firm offering communication, marketing and development consultancy in financial markets, with a strong interest in derivatives. Among its clients are: Eurex, Chicago Board of Trade, Nymex and Borsa Italiana as exchanges, and Fimat and Credit Lyonnais as brokers. Fund management clients include E D & F Man, Momentum Asset Management and Optima. IT clients include TradeKap.com and ITS Ecco.
