Patrick Young


Having expounded his "ruthless and prescient" vision of the future of capital markets in the bestselling book "Capital Market Revolution – the future of markets in an online world" (FT Prentice Hall, 1999), independent professional trader Patrick Young is intrigued to see many of those visions, such as single stock futures and sports trading are finally gaining widespread popularity throughout the financial world.

Perhaps better known these days as the CEO of online information group, erivatives.com, Patrick maintains a practitioners feel for markets while publishing 2 web-based magazines, appliederivatives.com and erivativesreview.com, which together boast some 30,000 readers in over 130 countries worldwide.

In addition to championing products such as single stock futures and swap futures for many years, Patrick has been an ardent advocate of new markets. He was a founder of InTrade, the world’s first P2P sports trading exchange launched in 2001.

Patrick is a regular keynote speaker at financial conferences throughout the world, and has lectured at leading educational institutions such as INSEAD. He appears regularly on radio and television world wide, including CNN, the BBC World Service and has a fortnightly Guest Host slot on CNBC Europe’s Squawk Box.

Formerly a broker and technical analyst with Tullett & Tokyo and Daiwa Europe, Patrick has consulted to various leading banks, brokers and exchanges in Asia, Africa, Europe and America. While much of his time is devoted to travelling throughout the world’s markets, Patrick has a home in Monaco.

In addition to his commitments to erivatives.com, he is involved with fledgling B2B ventures in Asia and Europe, as well as advising software company ePit and sitting on the advisory board of the SFOA. He is also a director of Peerless Films, an Italo-Australian production company.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Patrick is a lifelong classic car enthusiast, having dealt in old racing cars while at school. He worked as an automotive photojournalist before entering the city of London. An occasional classic rally competitor when time permits, Patrick is also a devotee of ballet and opera.
