Jean-François Théodore


Chairman of the Managing Board and Chief Executive Officer of Euronext N.V.

Born in December 1946, Jean-François Théodore holds a law degree from the University of Paris and is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA).

He is Chairman of the Managing Board and Chief Executive Officer of Euronext the leading European exchange created in September 2000 from the merger between Amsterdam Exchanges, Brussels Exchanges and ParisBourseSBFSA, and which has been enlarged to Porto and Lisbon Exchanges and has acquired the LIFFE, the UK derivatives market - of which Mr Théodore is member of the Board.

Mr Théodore is also Chairman of CLEARNET SBF SA, a subsidiary of Euronext which runs Euronext clearing operations.

From 1993 to 2000, Mr Théodore was Chairman of SICOVAM SA, the French central depository which became Euroclear France. Mr Theodore is on the Board of Euroclear.

He presided over the International Federation of Stock Exchanges (FIBV) for two years (1993-1994) and was President of the Federation of European Stock Exchanges (1998-2000). Since January 1997 he has been President of Paris Europlace Steering Committee. Paris Europlace is an association in charge of promoting Paris as a financial centre.

Prior to his career as Chairman and CEO of ParisBourseSBFSA in 1990, Mr Théodore was with the French Treasury (Direction du Trésor) at the Ministry of Economy and Finance from 1974 to 1989, serving as assistant Head of the State Holdings Bureau. He was then seconded for two years to Crédit National as a member of the Executive Board. On his return to the Treasury, he was successively appointed Head of the "African States - Franc Zone" Bureau, Head of the Foreign Investment Bureau, Deputy Director in charge of the Banking Department and Deputy Director of the Investments, State Participations and Public Corporations Department.

Mr Théodore is married and has three children.
