Paul G. Stevens, Jr.


Paul G. Stevens, Jr. has been President of The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) since October, 1989 and also serves as President of The Options Industry Council, a joint effort among the options exchanges and OCC to educate investors on stock options.

Prior to his appointment to OCC, Mr. Stevens had served on OCC’s Board of Directors from 1982 until 1989 as an Exchange Director from the American Stock Exchange (AMEX). At the AMEX, he held the position of Executive Vice President, Operations, responsible for the American Stock Exchange Market Operations, Options, Systems Technology and Trading Analysis Divisions. He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Securities Clearing Corporation.

Mr. Stevens joined the AMEX’s Options Division in January, 1975 at the inception of its options trading program. In 1976, he became a Vice President in the Options Division, and three years later was named Senior Vice President.

After majoring in English at St. John’s University, his career in the options industry began in 1968 as an options trader with Saul Lerner & Company. Before joining the AMEX, Mr. Stevens was Vice President, Options Trading, at Ragnar Options Corporation.
