James J. McNulty joined the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as President and Chief Executive Officer on February 7, 2000, bringing 25 years of experience in global financial markets to the CME.

Mr. McNulty’s experience in management, technology and exchange as well as over-the-counter trading includes serving as General Partner with O’Connor and Associates, one of the world’s leading futures and options trading organizations. O’Connor was widely recognized as a pioneer in applying sophisticated risk management technology and quantitative techniques to securities, futures and options markets.

With the purchase of several O’Connor businesses by Swiss Bank Corporation (SBC), Mr. McNulty in 1993 brought O’Connor’s cutting-edge approach to SBC’s global Capital Markets and Treasury organization. WDR is the international investment banking arm of UBS AG, one of the world’s leading financial institutions formed by the 1998 merger of the banking groups of Swiss Bank Corporation and Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS). He was a frequent international lecturer before top executives of major corporations on the topics of shareholder value creation, cost of capital, capital structure and dividend policy.

A member of Warburg Dillon Read’s Corporate Finance Technology Committee, Mr. McNulty designed and launched a global Corporate Finance Web portal incorporating more than 20 sector and product Web sites. At SBC, he was responsible for designing a number of the risk management advisor tools that the firm used to advise multinational corporations and investment mangers. He was the founder of the Analytical Resources Team at WDR and, previously, an investment banker for a number of U.S. and Mexican corporations.

From 1984 to 1987, Mr. McNulty was the founder and President of Hayes & Griffith Futures, Inc., and a director of Intermarket Publishing Corporation. Previously, he held foreign exchange management positions with Harris Bank and Citibank, including Treasurer for Citibank in Mexico City. Euromoney Currency Reports named him the top foreign exchange forecaster in 1982 and 1983.

Mr. McNulty received a master of science degree in Anglo-Irish studies from University College, Dublin, Ireland, in 1974 and a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences from the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 1973.
