Ferdinand Lacina has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NEWEX® EDV-Betriebssystem AG since August 1999. He has served as consultant for Erste Bank der Oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG since 1997. He started his career in 1964 at the Vienna Chamber of Labour where he took over the position of Head of the Department for Economic Research in 1973. In November 1978 he became Head of the Department of Financial Plan-ning at ÖIAG, the holding company of Austrian state-owned indu-stries. In April 1980 he took over as Head of Office for Chancellor Bruno Kreisky and in November 1982 he assumed the function of State Secretary at the Office of the Federal Chancellory responsible for economic policy coordination and de-velopment assistance. In 1984 he became Federal Minister of Transport and Public Economy under the government of Fred Sinowatz. Between June 1986 and April 1995 he was Federal Minister of Finance in the governments headed by Franz Vranitzky. Since May 1995, he has served as consultant to Montana AG, Vienna. In April 1996 he became Chairman of the Managing Board of GiroCredit AG. Ferdinand Lacina graduated from the Vienna University of Economics with a master’s degree in business administration in 1965.
