Mark D. Fichtel

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Fichtel served as Senior Executive Vice President, Office of the Chairman, for the American Stock Exchange (AMEX). During his three-year tenure he implemented strategic initiatives to support a more efficient and responsive floor-trading environment. These efforts centered around the development of the technological capabilities of the exchange, positioning AMEX to be a key player in the financial services industry.

Mr. Fichtel began his professional business career in 1968 with the Prudential Insurance Company. In 1970, he joined Smith Barney & Co. where he was involved in institutional sales and research. Departing from Smith Barney & Co. in 1973, Mr. Fichtel joined Kidder Peabody & Company where he capped a 21-year career as Managing Director. In 1995, Mr. Fichtel served for one-year as Managing Director of Smith New Court where he increased the productivity of the firm’s sales force and raised U.S. sales by 100%.

As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts and the New York Society of Financial Analysts. He has been a featured speaker at many international futures and options conferences.

Mr. Fichtel holds a BA in History from Princeton University.
